Excellent accueil de Sophie, visite très agréable d’une heure environ du vignoble, des installations de réceptions, des différents vivier et pour finir une excellente dégustation de 3 vins. Sophie greeted us with a smile and enthusiasm. She introduced us to the vineyard with expert knowledge and answered all of our questions with detail and empathy. We felt comfortable chatting with and learning from Sophie. The tour took us inside where we again spent time learning from her. The tasting was expertly conducted and we were not rushed. Following on from the tour our lunch was exquisite with friendly and professional staff serving and advising us. In brief this was a most memorable, informative and beautiful experience - an amazing vineyard. Thank you so muchSophie greeted us with a smile and enthusiasm. Nous avons eu la chance d’avoir la visite que pour nous 2 et nous avons eu des explications vraiment claires pour nous qui étions novice, c’était vraiment agréable. Le restaurant etait délicieux et le cadre superbe! Et bien sûr les vins étaient incroyables… Nous recommandons cette expérience au château de Candale!Nous avons eu la chance d’avoir la visite que pour nous 2 et nous avons eu des explications vraiment claires pour nous qui étions novice, c’était vraiment agréable. We looked for a place that offered a tour and tasting, and the possibility to have lunch without having to go somewhere else. Chateau Candale fit the bill and did not disappoint. Our guide Uma was very friendly and knowledgeable, the wines we tasted were superb. The visit was capped off by a beautiful lunch on the covered terrace with the most amazing view over the vineyards and rolling hills of Saint Emilion. We travelled from Arcachon on the train, with a five minute taxi ride from St Emilion station. We booked the meal option and when we arrived, had a personal tour of the vineyard and the fermenting/aging room with an English speaking guide, who was extremely knowledgeable and answer all of our many questions, from the growing of the vines to the bottling process.. This took about 45 mins, before we then sampled 3 of the red wines, all of which were superb. We then had a 3 course lunch in the restaurant, a set meal with 2 options per course. Like everything else, the food was fantastic and accompanied by a glass of wine (obviously!) All in all we spent around 3 hours at the Chateau and was a day well spent. A must if you’re in this beautiful region of France. We didn’t make it to the town of St Emilion, but hear it’s also worth a visit. We arrived at the chateau on a beautiful sunny day... only to be made to feel very welcome. Abigail and the other staff members made us feel very welcome. We were taken firstly to the vines and shown around the vineyard, with Abigail having really good English and knowledge about the whole wine production process. We then went into the area where the vats and barrels were with Abigail giving us a talk about the different types of wines produced on site. Then came the tasting and explanation of each of the 3 wines... they were all really lovely. After this, with the sun shining, we decided to stay for an extra drink and had a bottle or rosé on the patio outside, with Abigail bringing a table and chairs outside for us. It would have been easy not to do this but nothing seemed too much trouble during our visit. We would 100% recommend and would definitely return. Très contents de ce moment passé au château de Candale. La guide était d'une gentillesse, ses explications très claires, attentive à toutes nos questions, son accueil très chaleureux. Nous sommes ravis de la visite privée du château Candale. Notre guide était très claire et complète dans ses explications et attentionnée. Le cadre est magnifique, au calme. La dégustation dans le jardin fut également très appréciée. La possibilité de déguster des vins venant des autres châteaux appartenant aux mêmes propriétaires a offert un bel aperçu de la variété de l'appellation, entre tradition et modernité.Nous sommes ravis de la visite privée du château Candale. We went to Chateau Candale only for a tasting because we did not have much time, but we wished that we had been able to stay longer. The lovely woman who animated our tasting was friendly, knowledgeable and informative. She was perfectly bilingual and easy to understand which was not the case at the other chateau we visited. Two of us bought a bottle of Clos de Jacobin Grand Cru Classé which was such a phenomenal wine!
