The winery

Château de Sales is one of the few wineries in the Bordeaux region to have been passed down in its entirety from generation to generation for almost five centuries. Its Carthusian monastery, built in the mid-seventeenth century, has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1996. With 47.60 hectares of vines, out of the 90 hectares of the winery, it is the largest vineyard in the Pomerol AOC. The wines of Château de Sales are the expression of their terroir, marked by elegance, silky tannins and dazzling fruitiness. They are the result of the perfect match between the Merlot (the majority), Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties and the gravel and sand soils.     My husband and I had a lovely afternoon with Sarah. Sarah is very knowledgeable and a very sweet young lady. We are here in the area from Northern California (Sonoma/Napa counties) to learn about French wines. So far, we are extremely impressed and learned a lot today. We are here for another four weeks and pretty sure we will be back to visit Chateau de Sales again to purchase more wine. Thank you so much, Carolyn and Rich

    A truly exceptional visit for 8 people of various ages from 18 to 70, with various levels of wine knowledge - we were made to feel extremely welcome at this beautiful family-owned vineyard, with a guided tour of the grounds and facilities, and a tasting of some of their marvellous Pomerol wines - our guide was most convivial and provided a wealth of interesting facts about the chateau, the wine and French wine making in general. I couldn't recommend this tour highly enough - we came away with half a dozen bottles and wished we had space for more!

    Nous avons adoré. Accueil chaleureux! Nous avons été charmés par cette histoire de famille! On sent cette volonté pour se développer tout en restant familial (non industriel). On a été ébloui par ce lieu, par les personnes. Très belle visite, nous avons bue les paroles de notre guide! Par chance nous étions seuls pour ce moment privilégié. Nous recommandons vivement cet endroit rempli d'histoire et de beauté. Merci encore pour cette visite, et le vin y est délicieux !

    Nous avons particulièrement apprecier le lieu ainsi que les explications qui retracent l'histoire de ce château. Ce chateau se transmet de génération en génération. On sent la volonté de preserver le patriloine français au travers de ce magnifique domaine mais aussi grâce à ces vins. Les explications qui accompagnent la dégustation sont aussi très appréciables. Nous avons passé un superbe moment dans un merveilleux endroit.

    Honnêtement se chateau ma redonner espoir puisqu'il s'agit la d'un vignoble réellement familial tout est dans la simplicité mais chic a la fois Notre guide était excellent il avait une connaissance du château mais surtout du vignoble de Bordeaux jusqu'à nous parler de l'histoire chronologique Bref de tout les vignoble c'est celui qui ma vraiment touché maintenant j'ai juste une chose en tête c'est dit retourné une prochaine fois

    Visite très intéressante, notre guide (très dynamique) nous a raconté plein d’anecdotes sur le domaine et la famille, ainsi que de belles explications sur les différentes étapes d’élaboration du vin. La visite s’est terminée par une dégustation des deux vins du domaine, avec des conseils sur la dégustation. Merci beaucoup, nous recommandons chaleureusement !

    Un très beau domaine avec une belle histoire raconté avec passion par notre guide qui a su faire vivre l'histoire étonnante de ce patrimoine. La visite du domaine est vraiment complète agrémenté d'explications très précise et d'anectote. La dégustation ce passe dans un cadre somptueux entre modernisme et authenticité. Je recommande vivement cette activité et surtout le guide de celle ci.
